This capstone project is based on the theme of architecture with a social impact and the resolution and integration of technology, environment and cultural context in architectural design. Progressing from the urban issues of urban street environment , the design studio extends students development of architectural position and design brief in proposing strategy to resolving social issues pertinent within the conditions of the urban landscape (for example, elderly, neglected communities, school, youth centre). We are to further develop the site and programme chosen by their design supervisor that addresses the social needs of a particular urban place and provide interaction and connection of people in the urban spaces. Subsequently, we are to produce detailed design of a selected portion of scheme.
design concept
Petaling Jaya has long held the title as one of Malaysia's most established urban townships; reliable public transportation, well founded hospitals, and nation leading public schools can all be found within the site. There are lots of good that comes with a well established township, but there are also drawbacks that tag along. When living in an environment that is too comfortable and consistent, people tend to stop innovating as we favour what is familiar to us. Living in the 21st century, things are rapidly evolving, and the world struggles to catch up to what is called 'updated'. Our aim here is to keep the youth of PJ updated.

Youths are the ones that create the future, in other words, the youth is the future. And with that said, designing a youth creativity centre is taken very seriously as we are potentially shaping the future. Revolving greatly on matcching a programmme that would eventually shape the youth to be ready for the ever evolving future and also providing a mutual relation with its neighbouring context, a CONTENT CREATION CENTRE was found to be the most suitable and potential programme to be introduced. Being the most influential medium to date, we explore how the youths and PJ residents will benefit from the Content Creation Centre.
